TERMS & CONDITIONS

Gifted Youth Music Studios

Terms and Conditions (Updated February 2025)

The following Terms and Conditions govern all lesson agreements between "Gifted Youth Music and Arts Studio" and its students, as well as the parents/caregivers of the students ("the pupil"). These terms have been crafted to ensure fairness for both Gifted Youth and its clients. We appreciate the understanding and cooperation of our families in adhering to these terms.

Registration and Fees

Enrollment is always open for music lessons. A $25, nonrefundable, registration fee for students enrolled on or after January 1, 2023. If a student decides to pause or terminate lessons, the registration fee becomes due if they decide to re-enroll in the future.

Private Lessons: $130/month (1 student; 30 minutes once/week)

Group Lessons: $130/month (3-4 students; 60 minutes once/week)

Private Lessons: $70/month (1 student; 30 minutes once/bi-weekly)

**There are 48 lessons in the calendar year. The monthly rate is consistent regardless of the amount of lessons provided in a given month.

Payment Policy

Students enrolled after January 1, 2023 must have a card on file and signed up to our Auto-Pay system. Payments will be run on the 1st of each month paying for the current month. If payment does not go through by the 10th, a $25 late fee will be added, and for ten (10) days until the balance is paid. If no payment is received by the 15th, students will be dropped from the program until the balance is paid. If balance is not paid by the end of the month, it will be subject to collections.

Attendance

It takes daily work to be able to play music well, and to see exponential growth. Please understand that regular attendance is critical to your student’s success. Books and other materials MUST be brought to the lesson just as students are responsible for bringing their school books to class; that is the only way we can progress in a timely manner.

Make-Up Lessons

In the event of missing a lesson without providing at least 18 hours' notice, no catch-up lesson or credit will be given, and the lesson will be considered forfeited. 4a.iii. Explained absences with a minimum of 18 hours' notice will be considered, and the student's tutor will arrange a replacement/catch-up lesson for up to three lessons every 90 days. 4a.iv. Rescheduling should be done through the online portal on Opus as instructed. 4a.v. Managerial discretion may allow for customer credit for the value of a missed lesson, which is not transferable for cash but can be used conveniently in the following term's fees. 4a.vi If the student chooses not to avail these options, the lesson will be considered forfeited. **Absences are NOT refundable**

Expectations of Student Practice.

While practice is not required, it is strongly encouraged and recommended. Parents of young children will need to sit with their child for a while as they practice; and help them learn the fundamentals as well as encourage them as they learn. Practice times need to be consistent. We recommend practicing even for 15-20 minutes four to five times a week to gradually increase skill and confidence. Regular practice sessions at home will make the lessons much more fun and rewarding.

Home Instrument

Every student is required to have a suitable instrument at home. If there are any doubts as to whether an instrument is suitable, please ask the instructor. A student cannot be successful long-term if he/she does not have a reliable instrument to use regularly at home.

Grievance Procedures

Please email the studio admin@giftedyouthsc.com with any difficulties that your student might be experiencing with the lessons or difficulties that you have with our operations/policies. We will do our best to resolve any issues.

Cancellation Policy

If the student and/or parents wish to cancel lessons, a cancellation email must be sent with 30 days' notice to admin@giftedyouthsc.com or office@giftedyouthsc.com. Any payment made prior to cancellation is non-refundable. Verbal notice to the tutor will not be considered sufficient unless confirmed by email from Gifted Youth. Exceptions for immediate cancellations may be granted on medical grounds, subject to Gifted Youth's approval. In the event that Gifted Youth needs to cancel a lesson agreement, the pupil will be notified at least two weeks in advance, and any remaining prepaid lessons will be credited to the pupil's account.

Late Arrival Policy

If a client arrives more than fifteen (15) minutes late to a scheduled lesson without prior notice to the instructor or school, the lesson will be considered forfeited. No makeup lesson, rescheduling, or refund will be provided. It is the client’s responsibility to communicate any delays in advance to avoid forfeiture. Gifted Youth may cancel the pupil's lesson immediately if there is property damage or harassment of staff, with no notice, credit, or refund provided for outstanding lessons.

Inclement Weather Policy

In the event of inclement weather, we follow the closure decisions of the nearest school district as well as nearby dance studios. If they close due to unsafe conditions, our lessons will also be canceled. Should we need to close due to inclement weather, any affected lessons will be credited to your account and can be rescheduled for a makeup session at a later date.

Liability for Damages

In the event that a student or their family member causes damage to school property, equipment, or facilities valued at more than fifty dollars ($50), they will be held financially responsible for the cost of repair or replacement. Payment must be made promptly upon receiving an invoice for the damages.

Child Protection Policy

All workers, including employees, contractors, and volunteers, must adhere to our child protection policy, which includes mandatory screening, training, and reporting procedures.
